“A Short History of the Internet”

First of all, after I had read the article “A Short History of the Internet” by Bruce Sterling, I feel that the Internet that we used today is not original being created for us to use but is to allow the authorities to contact with each other after the nuclear war. This is because when the wars start, the enemies will focus their attack on the communication center to avoid the base to contact with the army at the battlefield. After the study and development of the technology, the US governments start to allow the usage of Internet.

When the people are joining this network for non-stop, the Internet is replace the ARPANET. By using the Internet, many people can read the news and personal messages. Researchers were using Internet to work on projects, trade notes on work, and eventually to downright gossip and schmooze. People had their own personal user account and e-mail addresses for electronic mail which make them easy to contact with the people around the world.

In my opinion, I feel that Internet is become popular and may break the record into trillion users in the future because it is a freedom place. We can know the news, gossips, commercial promotion faster and accurate then the old style fashion. Sometimes, if we write out our feel about our country condition example like corruption on Internet, we will not being sued by the law. This is because even government of certain country also scares the Internet as the news of their scandal will spread over the world.

In the world of business, definitely the businessman will not reject the Internet as it is a tool to help them carry out their business. As we all know, the notebook nowadays is very cheap and we can get one for around one thousand to two thousand ringgit. If businessmen want to order stock from foreign country, he would not take flight to that country just for order the stock. They just use the Internet to contact the supplier and thus can get the clearly information of the price, details and picture of the stock.

The webcam on the notebook also allow us to chat by looking our friend through the computer. This function also helps the CEO or manager of the company to discuss the issue face by the company with other management level leader throughout the world. File transfer also enable the people to get information that they want within few second.

In the future, I feel that the usage of Internet will increase with the fastest rate. With the networks, we are no longer separate entities living in this world. We all are part of a big contribution towards the advancement of these networks and we are free to use it for our own uses and according to our own values and stands.
